This installation was part of the Science and Environment Pavilion for Pursukoon Karachi‘s Shehrefun event.
The plastic bottles were collected by school children through an environmental education campaign.
This was the first time we attempted to do something of this scale, with this material and it was a wonderful learning experience.
Concept note for the pavilion- “The bottle cloud above you defines the circulation of this pavilion, while reminding us of the amount of trash we produce as a city. The bottles are a subtle reminder to be conscious about the choices we make and an effort to create something beautiful from a material that would otherwise pile as non biodegradable waste. The pattern was developed taking inspiration from a weather map.”
The bottles used to make this cloud are still with us, and slowly being reused in multiple ways, aiming toward generating permanent solutions.

This installation was created with the help of school students @karachipublicschool, in their central courtyard with the intent to convey through a simple gesture, the sheer magnitude of the crises we are facing today.
The leaves that are trapped in these plastic bottles are a poignant ode to the trees that are being killed by the waste we generate. These leaves will age, they will wither and change colour over time. They will slowly die, and leave behind a shadow of their bright green hue, dull browns, and yellows. Though beautiful, these dying flowers and leaves will subtly tell each one of us that walks beneath this canopy- stop, look, emphasize, don’t let the earth wither away and die. A small change is all it will take to leave the earth fresh, beautiful and alive for generations to come.

This installation is a collaborative art proposal for a school in Karachi.
Collaborative art installations are designed to develop critical thinking, creativity, teamwork and confidence in young minds.

This particular installation comprises of an ancient Chinese tangram puzzle made out of waste wood. Every child will be able to create a unique colourful pattern, which comes together as a collective manifestation of their imaginations.

We built this shed with the intent to create a beautiful work-space for hands on experiments and a quiet space to get away and think between stressful workdays.
The intent was that the space be breathable, sustainable and lightly touch the ground. The concrete base grounds the structure, while the bamboo and jute walls create an exciting translucency and play of light and shadow.

The space is planned between small gardens, to create a space wherein you feel welcome, and surrounded by the pronounced beauty of natural and simple things.
